Tua Tagovailoa's last snap of Sunday night was an interception, and the Baltimore Ravens walked off 30-23 winners in overtime. The NFL released alternate-angle footage of the throw, and the conversation turned to whether Drake London was open.
That is the least informative question this game produced. Baltimore won it with a quarterback who never gave the ball away and one 47-yard run from a back who carried four times.
Tyler Huntley went 24 of 32 for 201 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, a 111.6 rating, sacked three times. He never completed a pass longer than Rashod Bateman's 20-yarder. Zay Flowers caught 8 of his 9 targets for 53 yards, with a long of 12. The two scoring throws went 18 yards to Derrick Henry and 7 to Devontez Walker. Huntley ran for a touchdown himself, 6 carries for 20 yards.
Derrick Henry's night is the one that will get framed: 24 carries, 102 yards, 4.3 a carry, an 11-yard long, no rushing touchdowns. Justice Hill's four carries went for 73 yards, and his 47-yard run is the longest offensive play in this box score. Henry added one catch, 18 yards, a score.
After the win, Henry called out Baltimore Sun reporters whose Week 5 predictions had backfired. Take his side if you want. But 4.3 a carry and an 11-yard long is a grinder's night, and reporters being wrong about the final score isn't the same thing as being wrong about him.
Baltimore's defense handled the rest. Kyle Hamilton intercepted a pass. Trenton Simpson posted 7 tackles and a sack, Tavius Robinson 6 and a sack, Mike Green a sack among 2 tackles for loss. Malaki Starks made 10 tackles, 2 of them for loss, and Roquan Smith added 8. The offense's one giveaway was Mark Andrews: 4 catches on 6 targets for 28 yards, one fumble, one lost.
Atlanta shows up in this account twice. London, and the backup quarterback who threw the last pass. A backup taking the final snap of an overtime game is a roster problem before it's a tape problem. The alternate angle invites an argument about whether London was open on a play Atlanta never got to run again. The interception stands regardless.
My read: 30 points flatter a Baltimore offense that never completed a pass beyond 20 yards and needed Justice Hill to supply the only explosive gain of the night. The Tagovailoa pick is what gets replayed. The 20-yard ceiling is the number I'd carry forward, because the next opponent won't end the game by handing Baltimore the ball.
