Verse: Yeah, I mean, I think it's the same no matter what. I mean, new team, old team, this team, that team, I mean, I'm here just to win. We got everybody ready these past couple of weeks, this whole camp, we've been down here dominating and working every day. So I'm excited to see what we can showcase when those restraints are off. A joint practice is one thing, but when you can really go full go, I'm excited to see how this looks.
Verse: This defense is relentless. We're fast and relentless. In the preseason, you're out there trying to get some guys a little bit more playtime and everything like that, but now it's for us to get loose. This is a real season. It's for us to go out there and dominate, and that's what this is. It's a dominant defense, and that's what you're going to see.
Verse: Yeah, Trevor Lawrence is a great player. He can go back there, he can dot you up all day, but he can also run the ball around you if you give him those gaps, those seams. And we're just going to rush and get after him. We're not going to rush scared, because we can't do that with anybody. If you rush scared, he's just going to be back there dotting you up the whole time. We're going to get after him, we're going to get to him, we're going to hit him, we're going to kind of sack him a couple times. Hopefully a lot more than a couple, but he's just going to do what we have to do to get that win.
Verse: Yeah, I think it's too many times in my career I've been focused on what I can do and how I can get to a position at the end of the season to be proud of. Right now, I'm just focused on one and O. I don't have any position, anything in my mind going like, I want to win this, I want to do that, I'm just focused on one and O. Next week, I'll focus on two and O, but right now, I'm focused on one and O.
Verse: I don't think it's ever compete, I think it's just those who deserve it. If you compete, if you're doing more than what you're capable of, you're not going to be in that position to be a captain. To be a captain, you just got to be the version of you that you are every day. And I will showcase who deserves to be up there and who deserves to be representing us as Browns.
Verse: I think he's handling it very well. He's communicated with all of us, I'm not understanding the defense or if I have a question or something, he's quick to be like, hey, that's a smarter idea, no, no, no, no, no, here's why we're doing it. Here's what's happened in the past, we're going to handle it this way. I think he's a very good defensive coordinator, he's handled everything he needs to.
Verse: As honestly, I've just talked to a lot of different people and mainly I just focused on myself. On the fact that every year I've kind of focused on, how can I be a pro bow? How can I be an all pro? How can I get this at the third versus just focusing on getting this one and all, getting this first win, going out there and winning. Because even during games, I'll be focused on how can we win this game and say just focus on this one play.
Verse: Yeah, it's no pride or anything like that, it's just who I am. I'm out there, when I'm out there, you catch me in the environment like this, I'm a little bit more calm, but you catch me on the field. I'm loud, I'm explosive, I'm getting in your face, I'm trying to not just hype up myself, but hype up my teammates. It's just who I am. Some people don't feed off of it, some people love it. So every person is different, but I'm just me.
Verse: I don't think it's a new part of his game, I think he's been doing it for quite a while. I think last year was an explosive amount for him to do it that much. But I think he's, that's just who he is. He's a very good quarterback, one of the best in the league. I mean, there's no really bad quarterbacks in this league. So seeing him do that, I'm not really too surprised by it. But I think it's the same for us. Like I'm focused on us just keeping him contained and limiting the damage as much as possible.
Verse: 100%, I think the biggest thing I did this whole camp and this whole offseason was I focused on losing. I wanted to go out there and I wanted to lose as much as possible with these moves and try different stuff, try things I'm not comfortable with, try ghost moves, try things I haven't done in the season and go out there and lose and figure out what works and what doesn't. I try moves and they would kill everyone. I'd be like, all right, boom, I'm adding that to my back. I try moves and I have no business trying those moves. And I'd be like, all right, let's scrap this one and leave it to Von Miller. But I think I've learned a lot and I've got exactly what I want to be in my bag now.
Verse: I'm 100%, I'm very confident and very happy to see him in this start. Seeing him in the preseason, it was good. It was a good little taste, watching him lock people up and stuff. But now it's the real show, you got two real DMs this week. These are really good guys, I've talked to them a little bit about them. I know a little bit of their tendencies cuz I watch these guys very well. And I'm very excited for what he's about to do.
Verse: The pressure becomes set by just getting off of it. A lot of pressures come from, at least for me, personally, is these bull rushes, I'll bull rush them all the way to the quarterback. And then I might end up giving a sack to somebody else. But I just need to work off, you just need to work off your move and you can't get too connected in one thing.
Verse: I don't really care about the motivation. I don't really care too much about what other people think. My main focus is the Browns fans and the Browns organization. Respect is a thing that you can't just get. No one just hands you respect, you have to earn that every week. You can't get it just by what you do on the practice field, what you do that every Sunday is the biggest thing. And going out of this game 1-0, that will give us the most amount of respect we can possibly get.
Verse: Appreciate it. Have a good one. Thank you.
