Price: Did you get a chance to watch any of your teammates play this weekend like Malachi or Jeremiah?
Price: I saw clips. You know, we had a long training camp and long, long week preparing for New England. So I spent my Sunday. I watched a couple of games and then the rest I was just chilling, watching movies, to be honest. But I saw them make some plays and I'm excited to go against Jeremiah this upcoming weekend.
Price: Yeah, it'll be special. We even talked about it, how we want to, you know, maybe swap jerseys or something if we can. Because it'll be a very special moment. I know that a lot of Notre Dame fans and Notre Dame people will look forward to that moment. So we'll definitely get a picture and yeah.
Price: Biggest takeaway is NFL games are unexpected. Like, you can't ever, you just gotta, I mean, it's probably going to be a close game. I mean, because it's so much talent and I mean, it's the best, it's the most elite. So that was my first takeaway. Like, you know, the game's on the line. We might go in overtime the first game of the season, Wednesday night. Who plays on a Wednesday night? Like, it was, all those things were swarming in my head, so.
Price: Not really. It was just a little bit more sore after the game because I finally got tackled. But that's good for my body to get used to.
Price: Major confidence. Major confidence. Because it's so unpredictable. You don't know what's going to happen. But I really, that play we ran, like they had so much, we had so much confidence in that play and how it was blocked. And I just trusted my coaching and trusted what I did in practice. And I got a 13-yard game. So that gives you major confidence going in the rest of the game.
Price: I mean, as you can see, my first three carries, I didn't get touched until the safety. So that tells a lot about the way our offensive line gets off the ball and the way they run to the ball when the ball's in the air or when it's run down the field. So, yeah, I respect our offensive line a lot.
Price: Just trusting, watching the film and just your natural instincts take over at the end of the day. But, yeah, just trusting the coaching.
Price: I would say the word I use is friendly competition. Because as soon as you accept the position you're in, you're not going to get any better. So I competed. We competed together. We said, like, okay, going into this game, who's going to have more touchdowns? And sometimes we would try to match each other's touchdowns. It just worked out that way. But it was never like, you know, I hope you don't do as good or something like that. It was never that way. Because if he didn't do well and all of a sudden I took the starting job, then, you know, what good does that make me? Like, I wanted to prove to myself that I'm just as good or better.
Price: No, not really. I was really close when my mom heard about what those Texas Tech was offering. And I told her, just wait until the NFL money hits and we'll be good. And she trusts me on that. And look what happened, so.
Price: Yeah, yeah. The group of guys, the coaches, like, it was a place I wanted to be. I wanted to finish my degree. All of that. I wanted to go back, compete for a national championship, have my name on the wall, so.
Price: A lot of my friends and family members back home texted me and was like, you know, congrats. So, yeah, I just talked to my mom, so.
Price: She was proud of me. You know, just nervous on the first play, as always, that she should be as my own. But, yeah, just proud.
Price: It was really important. And that's just to show who I am as a person, but also show people back home and everyone close to me, like, if you can miss something, just give it all you got, you know, and that you can still don't shy away from competition or challenges. And that's pretty much what I showed. Like, I was a challenge. There was a challenge ahead of me in competition. I still attacked it.
Price: Not really, because you go against top five defense and NFL every day in practice, so.
Price: Yeah, it was, like I said, the first run was a lot of confidence for me, for the rest of the game, and just trusting my abilities, like, even between the tackles. And to be honest, I like running in between the tackles more early on, just to, like, you know, get the feel of it, get to the safeties quicker, and then once you hit the edge, like you said, let your speed take over, and I just got to continue to use my offhand and make guys miss in space.
Price: It was real. Early on, I'm not going to lie, I was like, ah, this ain't nothing. And then it was, like, that first third down, and I was like, holy, yeah, it was crazy. Whatever, 112 decibels, whatever it was, that was probably the loudest stadium I've ever been in.
