Three names in the Week 3 inactives report. Only one of them should change your lineup.
Start with the one everyone will get wrong. Nico Collins is out again, and the reflexive fantasy move is to go buy low on him. Don't. "Again" is doing the heavy lifting here. This isn't a one-week absence you can absorb and forget; it's a receiver who has already cost you games, and the manager selling him knows it. The price you'd pay now is a healthy-Collins price for a player whose return timeline isn't on the page.
If you want to spend that trade capital, spend it on the Houston pass-catcher who's actually been running those routes. That's the position where you're buying production instead of a projection. The star is the expensive part. The replacement is the part that scores.
If Collins is already on your roster, you hold. You don't drop a player of that caliber over a repeat inactive, and you don't sell at the bottom of his value either. Dead money is dead money. Playing the healthy guy in his spot is the only lever you control.
Puka Nacua is the harder call, and my answer is bench him.
Uncertain means uncertain at your lineup lock. A game-time decision forces you to either sit a starting-caliber receiver for a replacement you don't love, or gamble a starting slot on a coin flip you can't watch resolve. I'll take the boring replacement. There is no prize for correctly guessing active and then watching him run routes at half speed.
Change my mind with information, not vibes: if Nacua's status firms up with enough runway before your lock, he goes back in the lineup and you don't think about it again. If it doesn't, you've already made the right call.
Darnold a go is a green light, not a buy signal.
An active quarterback means the offense around him isn't broken. If you were downgrading that team's pass-catchers because you didn't know who was throwing them the ball, stop. Leave them in. Stream a different quarterback in a different offense; don't chase this one because the injury report cleared.
The pattern across all three: react to what the report actually says. Out is out. Uncertain is a risk you don't have to take. Active is permission, not encouragement.
Verdict: buy the Houston replacement, not Collins. Bench Nacua. Start the pass-catchers Darnold is throwing to. I'd rather be early on the boring answer than late on the exciting one.
