Aaron Glenn, Head Coach of the Jets, addressed the media during a press conference on September 20, 2026, following a tough loss in their recent game. In his remarks, he discussed the team's injuries, the challenges faced during the match, and the need to regroup for the upcoming game against a formidable opponent.

Glenn: All right injuries Leno has an ankle Kiko has a quad David on your mother growing Aaron Has a knee and Mason Taylor has a thumb and I will have more information on those guys At some point during the week to be able to give you guys an update.
Glenn: When it comes to this game, I'd be honest. I'm highly upset Tough way to to lose a game um there's a number of things that go through my head that man, we have to fix and It's always tough You know when you feel like you was right there in the thick of it and then you didn't overcome And you let the other team overcome and win and that's something that's tough. It's tough.
Glenn: But I will say this This loss is not gonna define who we are and what we're about. I will say that and It's not okay. And our guys are gonna take it like that. It is not okay But we have to get ready to move on to the next week against another good opponent Upon that I know very well There's gonna be another challenge for us and we have to go into their house and try to steal a win and um And that's what we're gonna actually have to do. Let's go do that.
Glenn: So Man there are so many things the penalties and it is and it was on both side I think we had 13 they had 14. So obviously they were they were calling it like that We was not good on special teams We didn't get a chance to establish to run Defense we allowed the team to get coming down the field, you know and and score and nose on our penalty or whatnot, but Man we had a ton of balls that we punched out and had on the ground I think we only came over one of them, you know, so Those are things that that really just go through my mind right now and I just know this Next week. We have a number of things that that we have to fix and those things I just talked about some things that we have to fix.
Glenn: Yeah, um Man usually if you can get yourself in a situation like that and you can really control the clock You can control exactly how they're gonna play offense once you go and score You know, so we control the clock and we go run it down and say we run it seven minutes We've done before we went our number time off the clock I mean only gives them so much time to try to rebuttal, you know And we just do a good job in that situation, you know, so And plus to me once you once you get the ball and you go to school you put the pressure on the other team you have to go down the score so um, but it didn't happen for us the way that that, you know, I plan and um Yeah, that's something that we talk about quite a bit.
Glenn: Yeah, and listen, it's yeah and everybody has their own philosophy on how they want to do it I just feel like with our guys um Being able to to control the clock being able to you know, matriculate the ball down the field Um, I'll take it back to the tennessee game. We got that 19 play drive We ran all that time off the clock to get a chance to go down to score and put the pressure on the other team.
Glenn: Um, I thought defensively we were doing a pretty good job. I mean, that's a that's a powerful powerful offense um So I just put those two things together and come over my decision.
Glenn: On the brownlee on the brownlee penalty, what do you say to him there? I mean what it just it can't happen you know, that's I don't think there's anything that that he doesn't know You know, it can't happen We can't let our emotions get the best of us in a situation like that because we have to Every opportunity we get a chance in that situation to do was right to try to go win a game We have to make sure we do and that was one decision that we didn't you know We didn't make the right decision right there. I'll say that.
Glenn: You take us through the decision, uh fourth down big field To go for it and then to run twice and then race then run?
Glenn: Yeah, well How many yards we run for last week, you know, yeah, yeah, it was tough But I still have a lot of trust in our run game And in that situation, man, I want to go try to win the game You know win a position to to try to win it And I understand exactly even though I know how our defense was planned. I understand who that that offense is and again You go the last couple of years when the most explosive offense in this league As far as quarterback efficiency love been pretty good, you know over the last couple of years So man, let's put in our hands and let's go try to end it and let's be aggressive and let's do that.
Glenn: Um Everybody has a their own philosophy on doing that but I feel like that was the right decision.
Glenn: Man that's something I have to look at on tape, you know Because I have a lot of trust in our run game and I don't know exactly why let me finish it, please I don't know exactly why you know, Um, I mean they have some pretty good players and I said this during the week that their interior guys are Are pretty good and they run these interior stunts. Um And their edge I thought they did a really good job of setting edges You know with those edge guys those edge guys are a big guys big men. They do a good job of that.
Glenn: When you settle for the field goal down the other way though in relation to what you were just talking about I know it was more than fourth and one is probably closer to fourth and two there But what you're thinking there because that that's a place where you maybe could have laid the hammer down?
Glenn: Yeah, well, let's let's take the points. We got points right there for us, you know So to me, I think that's a totally different situation than the one at midfield. I can't even compare those Um, but let's let's try I think we have no brainer right there See we can get them to jump off side so we get extend the drive And since they didn't jump man, now we're gonna try to just kick it so we can get points right there.
Glenn: Last week with the making place yep, but the first two plays which was three plays of overtime with dropbacks.
Glenn: Yeah Well, listen I trust geno I think geno was was was Doing a solid job probably not his best. Um I mean we were trying to get to movement, you know get to get the ball going in that situation and Listen, I I get it. I mean we can Everybody can have while we should have ran the ball then if we'd have ran in the head we could have passed it but um, listen, I I trust our offensive staff and I'll trust the decision that that we were making it that that that point, you know, so Um, it just didn't work out for us, you know, and it's unfortunate, but it didn't.
Glenn: What was the top process at the end of the first half it seemed like you guys were trying to run the clock down a little bit?
Glenn: Yeah Yeah, that was a situation where I want to make sure that we end the half with the ball You know and hopefully with a score so we can try to double up, you know Coming back in the second half and that's something that we just got to do a lot better job at.
Glenn: Um Because we had enough time Well, we had plenty of time and I thought we actually ended up doing a really good job I was trying to keep with that two minute and then it should be go time, you know As far as us going to try on the score. That's something that we talked about Uh quite a bit all week that we want that that was going to be a philosophy of how we have to play This game especially because of who they are on offense.
Glenn: So we get a chance to at the end of half go down there get a score All right, come back the second half knowing we're getting the ball man That that can really change the outlook of the whole game and it just didn't work for us. It didn't work for us. Um That's tough. That's tough.
Glenn: You um, you talked to us a lot this summer about competitive stamina, yeah?
Glenn: No, I thought we competed our butts off the whole game the thing is man, that's that's a really good team To not at all and again competitive stamina Um, it's not only fatigue and you keep going but also man how long you can compete and I don't think I gotta stop competing Not one bit, you know, so that's that's not even close to what it was.
Glenn: Regulation there you stopped them third it was third and five and then they ran the clock that was about 50 seconds left Did you consider a timeout?
Glenn: said it one more time? When you when you made the stop there, it was third and five and then yes I didn't I didn't consider using that I know exactly what you're talking about. Um No, I didn't think I using the timeout at that point at all.
Glenn: Okay Man I want to go back and really look at it, you know to be honest with you But I think they were in a situation where they were trying to no brainer Was that it and they they took no burner? I mean it took the um, they took the penalty on that.
Glenn: Yeah, yeah, nothing. No, it wasn't that I think it was down to like 11 seconds, wasn't it?
Glenn: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so at that point Yeah at that point. I mean I didn't want to put ourselves in this position where we want to take a timeout man Let's let it end There on third down.
Glenn: Yep Yeah, and if they would have punted it that will put us in a backed up situation Yeah, I think they had they could have punted the ball and put us in a backed up situation right there So that was the reason why.
