Now compare the language he used moments earlier on Brian O'Neill: "He'll go in questionable, but he's doing well" — a genuine hedge, with a genuine "we'll see" attached. The concrete read: any next-week market listing Kyler as doubtful, or a Vikings team total built for Carson Wentz, is stale. And the rushing component returns with him — 173 rush yards and a rushing TD in five games last season is the dual-threat baseline. O'Connell isn't trying to talk him out of it, either: "he gets us a new set of downs based upon his unique athletic ability." He's coaching the slide, not banning the scramble. Treat the passing and rushing props as linked when he's back.

Watch the backup, not the starter "JJ being ready to go" — O'Connell, who then went out of his way to note McCarthy's first career start came at this stadium and ended with an NFC Offensive Player of the Week award. If he takes a competitive snap, the passing floor drops and the pressure angle goes live. If Kyler's protocol stalls midweek, the market is underpricing McCarthy as next week's starter — that's the contrarian side.
