Love: Yeah, I mean we don't want them to score at all of course, but it's gonna happen. I think what is great about our defense especially early in the season is how do we battle back? Things aren't gonna be perfect. What does it look like now? I think that's kind of what we're chasing and trying to figure out who we are for this year. And so I'm happy obviously with how we responded, just got to be cleaner now early. I think we know that we're gonna try to focus on that.
Love: I was pretty confident. I felt good. Yeah, I played little leagues in our field back in the day. I just spoke as you know, I think you try not to kid yourself if you don't have the ball, but I thought I got onto that one pretty good.
Love: Yes, I mean as soon as you get a little bit of an advantage as a team and you make especially for our defense make a quarterback like they're in chase mode. Like okay, we got to go make a play now. I think like it turns into our favor a little bit. Our front gets kind of like there's like blood in the water for those guys and then off of them playing ball. I think he did throw off his back foot on that throw. That's when the secondary can come alive. And so it all feeds into itself. If you start early, if you start getting faster, you get more of those opportunities. And so yeah, it was second half. They're down, they're trying to make a play, trying to drive the ball. It's third down. I think everything just snowballs into the ball might be in the air, go make a play.
Love: Yeah, I think it's me. We get to get settled. There's a little like of a lethargic feeling early in this game. And so we gotta like shake back and just like start faster. I think scheme was great. I think just get our feet in the ground knowing what they were trying to do, a lot of quick game, a lot of quick action going to their go-to guys. McBride's a great player. He made a few catches early. And it's like okay understanding what time it is. Let's get our feet set and bring the attack to them.
Love: It's cool, man. That's our guy. Nick is a character if you know him. He's just he's a funny dude, and he is a problem on the field. He's strong, he can run, he can do all the things. So see him get into some action this year for us, it's gonna unlock us in a lot of ways. He's a special dude. To see him get a few good plays to get his pass popping a little bit, that's all you need. So going forward, he's gonna be electric for us.
Love: Yeah, well 85 is our go-to guy. You know there's a few teams in the league that they feature, you know, I mean really their first threat is a tight end and this is one of them. And so we know I don't know where he is and that it's a trade set. It's third and probably I think it was maybe medium. I don't know what was there in short, third and medium. Yeah, I'm rotated down on the hook. They try to clear it out and just bring kind of McBride from the backside and just be a line at the sticks. We have the quarterback. I'm gonna hook knowing that I can pass one back to my guys. Let's make a play. So yeah, that's kind of what that was. There's no one who they're trying to go to the ball. So just playing within our scheme. Mike put us in a good call, put me in a good call space to make a play.
Love: I just want to be your vantage point that man, Drew is a gunslinger. Everybody in this building like just rocks with you so heavy. We know what he brought to the table. He's shown it for years, not you know, obviously in the limelight of being a starter, but yeah, every day in practice, you know, he can make every throw. He's smart. He has a swagger to him that's just fun to see. So I mean, no one the week was such a normal week of practice. I'm sure the narrative might have been a little different because he was up. But I don't know, we did we ride with Drew and he had I think his game today shows that why we feel that way. He can make the plays and when they just see it win us games.
Love: Yeah, my career I've been in those shoes before, but it's nothing is missed. There's no step that you feel like oh man, like how we got to do more on defense. Like no, it's like let's just play our game. Drew, they'll be fine. We got killers on offense. And yes, it's how we're built. I think guys will step up for us throughout the course of the season and hopefully we just don't break stride. And so Drew, I know quarterback's a big position, but it's no different for that one.
Love: I feel good. It's been a grind of an offseason. I don't want to feel like how I felt last year on the sideline watching games. That hasn't been in my past in my career up until last year. So yeah, I put in a lot of work. I'm starting early this offseason. The training staff here, the strings have had, we've been on constant communication all offseason and just my body was great. I've been I'm entering the prime of my career. And so I feel physically good and mentally that's kind of what my, that's what I do. So yeah, everything's aligning.
Love: Thank you. Appreciate it.
