Seahawks wide receiver Jake Bobo was carted off with an apparent leg injury during Thursday's joint practice with the Tennessee Titans, per Yahoo Sports. The severity is not yet known, and the team has not released an update. Bobo's day ended on the field, and the Seahawks' medical staff immediately attended to him before the cart arrived.

Joint practices are supposed to be a safer alternative to preseason games, but they carry their own risk. Two teams going live against each other in the middle of August can reshape a roster in a single drill. Bobo was competing for a role in a Seattle receiving corps that has seen plenty of turnover, and his absence now opens a question the Seahawks did not plan to answer this week.

The timing matters. With the regular season weeks away, the team must decide whether to wait out the injury or look elsewhere for depth. Every missed rep in practice is a rep someone else gets, and in a receiver room with no guaranteed spots beyond the top few, those opportunities get noticed.

Bobo has been a popular name in camp, the kind of undrafted-or-late-round story that fans latch onto. That narrative does not change the medical reality. A leg injury can range from a cramp to something far worse, and the Seahawks will not know until the swelling subsides and the scans come back.

The broader lesson is old: the most important plays of August often happen away from the scoreboard. Joint practices have become the new proving ground across the league, and they produce injuries just like games do.

What happens next is a roster calculus. If Bobo's injury is minor, he returns to a competition that continues. If it lingers, Seattle has a decision to make about how many receivers to carry and whether to make a waiver claim or a phone call. That is the reality of late summer in the NFL.

My take: the Seahawks' depth chart just got a little less comfortable, and the next 48 hours of medical reporting will matter more than any practice rep. Bobo's injury is the kind of story that fades if he is fine, or flares into a roster move if he is not.
