Stanley's hedge is a preparation problem, not just a medical one
Minter on Ronnie Stanley: "may go all the way up [to the game]... I am not sure," plus the staff would "look at that as soon as we get back." That's three hedges in one answer. The tell is the contrast: Zay Flowers and Nnamdi Madubuike both practiced; Stanley was in street clothes. A player with no practice reps whose evaluation is deferred until after a transatlantic flight and a Rio walk-through is not trending available. Baltimore is building a Plan B it declined to name.
The tackle room behind Stanley: Roger Rosengarten (2024 R2), Emery Jones Jr. (2025 R3), then first-year players Gerad Lichtenhan and Carson Vinson, plus AJ Arcuri. Any absence forces either a second-year player into a starter's rep count or slides Rosengarten. Either outcome compresses the playbook exactly where Minter already conceded a problem — "most of them have had some type of penalty involved." Offensive stalls, he said, were penalty-driven; pre-snap infractions are an offensive-line communication stat. A rebuilt left side is how you get more of them.
Concrete implication: this hits Baltimore's touchdown equity, not its yardage. Tyler Loop is 3-of-4 on field goals (2-2 Week 1, 1-2 Week 2). Penalty-killed drives that terminate in field goals are the mechanism. If Stanley sits, kicker attempt volume is the only Ravens number I'd want to be long.
Lamar's rush attempts are a read, not a dial
Minter: "we have called a good amount of runs this year that could potentially be quarterback runs." That sentence is worth more than the praise attached to it. The designed quarterback run is live in this offense, and the low carry total is defenses dictating the give. Lamar Jackson supplied the other half — "Last year, it was circumstantial. I was banged up" — explicitly attributing 2025's career-low rushing attempts to a season-long hamstring, not a philosophical shift.
Meaning: anyone valuing Jackson as a diminished rusher is using last year's number for the wrong reason. His volume is opponent-dependent, which is also the cleanest read on Derrick Henry — 212 rush yards, 4 rush TDs through two games, 144 of it in the opener. Henry's workload isn't a coaching preference; it's the other side of the same read. Light boxes: Henry eats. Heavy boxes: Jackson keeps.
Flowers' return compresses Bateman, not Andrews
On availability, Minter offered only that Flowers had "a real opportunity to maybe help us in the game." Weak-positive, but Flowers practiced, and that is the actionable part. In Week 1, with Flowers active, Rashod Bateman drew zero targets. In Week 2, with Flowers out, Bateman went 7-88-1. The only game Bateman has produced this season is the only game Flowers missed. That's a target-share artifact, not a breakout — Week 2 Bateman is a floor problem heading into Week 3, not a buy.
Mark Andrews is the constant: 4-49 and 6-49, 10 catches, 98 yards, no scores. The volume is real, the ceiling capped.
The field is the second game-time decision
Minter refused to characterize Maracanã, punting to the equipment staff and cleat selection, then: "both teams will be playing on the same surface." That's a no-answer — he doesn't know. Note that Baltimore's two unresolved items are both footing-related: an offensive tackle's availability and cleats. That's a coherent risk picture, not a coincidence.
Watch the inactives. If Stanley is down, the actionable shifts are kicker attempt volume up, Ravens touchdown equity and explosive-play rate down, and Henry's carry count roughly unchanged. The only live price here is Baltimore's Super Bowl number — +1000 at FanDuel, DraftKings and BetRivers, +1100 at BetOnline — and a Week 3 left tackle will not move it. No Week 3 line was available, so there's no number to argue with; the read is role and volume, not price.
