Kubiak: I first want to say that really excited about this Sunday excited about being in front of our fans in front of the silver and black and Front of the black hole as far as the injuries go. Okay, Brock has been ruled out. Ashton's been practicing all week I was optimistic earlier that Brock would be able to go. He's not we'll get him back soon.
Kubiak: And with that I'll take any of you guys questions.
Reporter: If I had told you when you got this job where you would be today Where this team is prepared knowing would you've taken that are you happy where you are? Are you just perpetually not going to be happy?
Kubiak: Take the ladder. I mean myself our coaches our players were never satisfied. We're always trying to get better We're always striving for perfection. That's the standard around here.
Reporter: Coach what was the timeline of discovering Brock's injury was severe enough for surgery?
Kubiak: Yeah, it all happened pretty quick. I don't remember exactly what day but Yeah, you got it cleaned up and we'll get him back soon.
Reporter: I know this year for that. It's the anticipation is missing one of two games Is that like pretty confident that's gonna be the timeline are you hope?
Kubiak: I'm not gonna talk about timelines, you know, we'll hope to get him back as soon as possible.
Reporter: He's a champion Back that was even after the procedure you're up. I think you can play?
Kubiak: I was yes.
Reporter: You have waited your whole life for this moment. I know you told us Wednesday. It's not about you, but it is about you You're still human. How excited are you for this first time as the head guy?
Kubiak: As just so much more important to be prepared than excited. So our staff our coaches our players It's their game they play on Sunday and you know, it's been a blast being able to be in front of this team Since April, it's been a blessing I'm so grateful for the opportunity and I'm so grateful for the players that we have and the coaches that we have.
Reporter: As you've gone through this first week as a game week as a head coach How have you found the ability to kind of allot your time to prepare to call players and run the offense would also be a head coach on a game day?
Kubiak: That's you know, It's it's things that you learn on the fly that you didn't you don't have time for that Maybe you did in the past and that's why you know, we were you rely on your people, you know Our coaches our trainers our strength staff And takes everybody to get ready for the game. So put a lot of a lot of pressure on our coaches To help me and we all help each other.
Reporter: You're always looking for more. But how do you feel like the team is set up and prepared for Sunday?
Kubiak: We're ready to play.
Reporter: You added Seahawk liming obviously you have some experience with what is is he going to bring to you guys and what is it about? His game that you like?
Kubiak: Yeah, very excited to add Bryce talented young player Familiar with the player. He fits our scheme and it's up to him to keep improving.
Reporter: You look at this team at the beginning of training camp to now What do you believe is the biggest area of improvement you think the team's made?
Kubiak: Leadership has improved.
Reporter: What have you seen with regards to Fernando just processing his first game week in the NFL?
Kubiak: You know just all the same things that we've seen since April treats every day like game treats every down like it's fourth and one.
Reporter: Every day spy tick and his staff are looking for any way to improve your roster as a coach having them being as Aggressive as they are. What does that do for you understanding? They're out here trying to make us better, too?
Kubiak: Yeah, that's what I signed up for knowing no one what I was dealing with knowing the professionals that John is and and stark and Brandon Hunt and be why and and mark throughs our ownership, you know We're here to win.
Reporter: Obviously with Brock out for Sunday and then not having Ashton at full strength at some points during this training camp in preseason You guys have experienced a bit of adverse in the offensive side of the ball How what does that tell you about your depth as you now have to take a closer look at that side?
Kubiak: That's the NFL every every week There's new guys in and out of the lineup and that means opportunity for the guys that step up So we have we have young guys that have been given a tremendous opportunity now. What do they do with it?
Reporter: What are the strengths of Michael Mayer in this offense?
Kubiak: I could go on and on about Mike. He's a leader on our team.
Reporter: Have you come to a decision at the right guard position with who's gonna be starting on Sunday Jackson? And what kind of went into that decision?
Kubiak: I still see Jackson. I still see Caleb as starters that are gonna play a lot of football for us.
Reporter: I know you said you want to see the week of practice I guess with the depth chart fully but is for NATO gonna be number two or the emergency quarterback on Sunday?
Kubiak: Will be number two.
Reporter: What are the what are the challenges would be if he were to have his first game experience coming in, you know After not preparing as a starter during the week and just kind of coming in?
Kubiak: Yeah, that's the life of an NFL back That's why he's got to be the most mature guy in the room guy that can Prepare on his own and the darkness in the shadows and then when called upon go win the game.
Reporter: When you are talking to Fernando about preparing when he's not the starter. What are some things? You're encouraging him to look and watch Kirk do?
Kubiak: I am encouraging him to know his reads and progressions to know the game plan and You know what the guys take off of each other comes to osmosis so he just got to get his get his butt ready to roll and You know the people in front of them are there to produce as well And if he learned something from their preparation, I think that's a good thing.
Kubiak: That's why we have that's how we have eight there But most importantly we have eight there to go play and go win the game.
Reporter: It's in leadership and proving there are a few guys that you can kind of pinpoint that you believe kind of emerged as leaders in This locker room that you would have might have not expected a few months ago?
Kubiak: Yes, there is and there's there's so many that you know If I miss somebody that I would be I'd be wrong to not give them their cred So we have we have multiple individuals stepping up.
Reporter: Nothing go play ball go make the catch go make the block go play great on special teams.
Kubiak: You have a lot to focus on here New job, but there's a ceremony Wednesday night in Seattle We're able to watch that and I guess the emotions of kind of seeing that that's.
Kubiak: I did not see it ceremony me in the game Like the you know, the all the pomp and circumstance of celebrating.
Kubiak: No, I you know, it was Wednesday. We're getting ready for third down.
Kubiak: That's good. Thanks.
Kubiak: Thank you.
