NFL Week 2 2026 Predictions: Sixteen Games, Sixteen Calls
Week 2 hands the league its first real sorting week. Sixteen games and every one of them priced, which is not something the schedule always offers. Only one spread on the board reaches double digits, and the headliner carries the highest total of the weekend: Buffalo laying 3.5 with the number sitting at 53.5. The rest is coin flips and short favorites, which is where the actual arguments live.
Detroit Lions at Buffalo Bills
The line: Buffalo Bills -3.5, total 53.5, moneyline Buffalo Bills -185 / Detroit Lions +154 The read: Both teams are being asked to do two things at once here: stay inside a field goal and push the score past 53. That is the hardest shape on the card to hit. Buffalo at -185 to win is a firm opinion; 3.5 is a hedge. I'd rather have the hook and the team receiving it. Best bet: Detroit Lions +3.5 Score: Detroit Lions 25, Buffalo Bills 28 Total: Under 53.5
Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons
The line: Carolina Panthers -1.5, total 43.5, moneyline Atlanta Falcons +105 / Carolina Panthers -125 The read: A road favorite by a point and a half in a division game, with moneyline prices of -125 and +105. That is the market admitting it cannot separate these two teams. When the price is level and the venue is not, the points are the better half of the bet. Best bet: Atlanta Falcons +1.5 Score: Carolina Panthers 22, Atlanta Falcons 21 Total: Under 43.5
Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans
The line: Houston Texans -3, total 46.5, moneyline Houston Texans -148 / Cincinnati Bengals +124 The read: Houston is -148 to win and only -3 to cover, and -3 is a push number. I'd rather buy the outright than the spread. If the Texans win by a field goal, the moneyline pays and the spread refunds, and that price gap says a three-point win is a live outcome. Best bet: Houston Texans moneyline (-148) Score: Cincinnati Bengals 22, Houston Texans 25 Total: Over 46.5
Cleveland Browns at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The line: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -8.5, total 40.5, moneyline Tampa Bay Buccaneers -375 / Cleveland Browns +295 The read: Tampa Bay is -375 to win, so the game itself is not in question. The 8.5 is. Laying more than a touchdown with the lowest total on the board at 40.5 means the favorite needs a short field or a defensive score to get there. Cleveland plus the points is the cheaper side of an expensive number. Best bet: Cleveland Browns +8.5 Score: Cleveland Browns 16, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24 Total: Under 40.5
Green Bay Packers at New York Jets
The line: Green Bay Packers -4.5, total 44.5, moneyline New York Jets +185 / Green Bay Packers -225 The read: Green Bay at -225 on the moneyline against a 4.5 spread. That spread asks the Packers to win by more than a field goal on the road, and the price does not really support it. Four and a hook is a number worth taking rather than giving. Best bet: New York Jets +4.5 Score: Green Bay Packers 24, New York Jets 20 Total: Under 44.5
Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears
The line: Chicago Bears -5.5, total 49.5, moneyline Chicago Bears -250 / Minnesota Vikings +205 The read: Chicago at -250 and laying 5.5 with a 49.5 total, third-highest on the board. A favorite asked to win by nearly a touchdown in a game priced for points usually finds them. I think the Bears get the last score of the afternoon and the cover with it. Best bet: Chicago Bears -5.5 Score: Minnesota Vikings 22, Chicago Bears 28 Total: Over 49.5
New Orleans Saints at Baltimore Ravens
The line: Baltimore Ravens -8.5, total 47.5, moneyline Baltimore Ravens -375 / New Orleans Saints +295 The read: Two favorites sit at -375 this week, and this is the one I trust. Baltimore is laying 8.5 with a 47.5 total, which prices the Ravens to cover on offense alone rather than needing a short field. Different profile than the other -375 game, and a better one. Best bet: Baltimore Ravens -8.5 Score: New Orleans Saints 20, Baltimore Ravens 28 Total: Over 47.5
Philadelphia Eagles at Tennessee Titans
The line: Philadelphia Eagles -7, total 40.5, moneyline Tennessee Titans +250 / Philadelphia Eagles -310 The read: Philadelphia is -310 to win and laying a touchdown on the road with the lowest total on the card at 40.5. Seven is the push number, so a one-score game costs nothing but a refund. That is a comfortable place to hold the home team and the points. Best bet: Tennessee Titans +7 Score: Philadelphia Eagles 24, Tennessee Titans 17 Total: Under 40.5
Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots
The line: New England Patriots -5.5, total 41.5, moneyline New England Patriots -238 / Pittsburgh Steelers +195 The read: New England at -238 to win with a 41.5 total. That is a lot of confidence in a team being asked to win by nearly a touchdown in a game the market thinks stays in the low 40s. Pittsburgh getting 5.5 in a short game is the side I want. Best bet: Pittsburgh Steelers +5.5 Score: Pittsburgh Steelers 18, New England Patriots 24 Total: Under 41.5
Jacksonville Jaguars at Denver Broncos
The line: Denver Broncos -2.5, total 43.5, moneyline Denver Broncos -148 / Jacksonville Jaguars +124 The read: Short spread, short total, home team. Denver at -148 on the moneyline is the market's real opinion; 2.5 is the discount you get for buying it on the spread. I'll lay the deuce and a hook and take the over, because a game this close has to be decided by somebody's offense. Best bet: Denver Broncos -2.5 Score: Jacksonville Jaguars 20, Denver Broncos 23 Total: Over 43.5
Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers
The line: Los Angeles Chargers -7, total 44.5, moneyline Los Angeles Chargers -290 / Las Vegas Raiders +235 The read: Same seven-point spread as Philadelphia's game, completely different circumstances. Los Angeles is home, the total is four points higher at 44.5, and -290 is the shortest moneyline of any seven-point favorite on the card. Lay the touchdown. Best bet: Los Angeles Chargers -7 Score: Las Vegas Raiders 19, Los Angeles Chargers 26 Total: Under 44.5
Miami Dolphins at San Francisco 49ers
The line: San Francisco 49ers -12.5, total 46.5, moneyline San Francisco 49ers -900 / Miami Dolphins +600 The read: The only double-digit spread of the week and the widest moneyline, -900 against +600. That is a price for a blowout. Twelve and a half is a price for a comfortable win. Those are not the same bet, and only one of them is being offered. Take the points. Best bet: Miami Dolphins +12.5 Score: Miami Dolphins 17, San Francisco 49ers 30 Total: Under 46.5
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
The line: Seattle Seahawks -4.5, total 41.5, moneyline Arizona Cardinals +185 / Seattle Seahawks -225 The read: Seattle at -225 laying 4.5 in a division game with a 41.5 total. Road favorites inside the division at under five points are the least comfortable bet on any card, and the moneyline reflects it. I'll still take the better team at a number under a field goal. Best bet: Seattle Seahawks -4.5 Score: Seattle Seahawks 23, Arizona Cardinals 18 Total: Under 41.5
Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys
The line: Dallas Cowboys -3.5, total 50.5, moneyline Dallas Cowboys -198 / Washington Commanders +164 The read: Dallas is -198 to win and only laying 3.5 at home with a 50.5 total, second-highest on the board. That moneyline says the Cowboys win this comfortably; the spread says it lands inside a field goal. The hook is the difference between a push and a loss, and I'd rather give it than take it. Best bet: Dallas Cowboys -3.5 Score: Washington Commanders 24, Dallas Cowboys 27 Total: Over 50.5
Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs
The line: Kansas City Chiefs -6.5, total 48.5, moneyline Kansas City Chiefs -290 / Indianapolis Colts +235 The read: Kansas City at -290, at home, laying 6.5 in a 48.5 total. The moneyline prices a routine win and the spread prices a game that gets away in the fourth quarter. Both can be true, and that shape is how a 6.5 gets covered in a game that stays tight for three quarters. Best bet: Kansas City Chiefs -6.5 Score: Indianapolis Colts 21, Kansas City Chiefs 28 Total: Over 48.5
New York Giants at Los Angeles Rams
The line: Los Angeles Rams -7, total 48.5, moneyline Los Angeles Rams -345 / New York Giants +275 The read: Los Angeles at -345 and laying a touchdown with a 48.5 total, among the shortest prices on the card. Unlike the other big favorites this week, this spread is a manageable seven rather than a double digit. The market expects a two-score game and I agree with it. Best bet: Los Angeles Rams -7 Score: New York Giants 21, Los Angeles Rams 28 Total: Over 48.5
My card in one line: nine favorites, seven underdogs, and the two -375 games split. Baltimore covers and Tampa Bay does not, which is the whole argument for why identical prices can mean different things. If the Browns lose by ten, the read I care most about this week is simply wrong.
