The day around the league was about pressure. On officials, on quarterbacks, and on a head coach who still doesn't have a win.

Start with Mike Vrabel, who said referee Bill Vinovich flagged him because the official was sensitive to being told he made a bad call. Vinovich gave his own account: Vrabel came up to him out of the box and said, "That was a f----g terrible call." Only one of those two versions is a defense, and it isn't Vrabel's. Calling a referee sensitive is what a coach says when the words were said, the flag was thrown, and there's nothing left to argue about the call itself. Vrabel is going to get a fine from the league office, and he should pay it without a press conference. Officials get to explain themselves through a pool report while the coach eats the penalty. That imbalance is real. It still doesn't make Vrabel right.

In Dallas, the Cowboys beat a Texans team that is still winless, and the final score is the least interesting thing about it. Dak Prescott was sacked three times and hit 12 times. Will Anderson Jr. spent the afternoon in the Cowboys' backfield. A win that costs your quarterback twelve hits isn't a template, it's a warning. Dallas can win this way against a winless team. It cannot win this way in January, and if the protection doesn't change, the Cowboys will be a wild-card team that looks dangerous until the first good front four shows up.

CeeDee Lamb is where the reporting gets strange. One outlet reported Lamb did not receive a pass from Prescott against Houston, and Emmanuel Acho went after his reaction on the sideline. ESPN's fantasy recap lists Lamb among the Week 4 winners, dominating the Texans. Both can't be the whole truth. Here's my read: the two reports describe opposite players, and when that happens the pressure numbers are the part I trust. A receiver with no targets from his quarterback is a symptom of a quarterback with no time, not a diva. If Lamb genuinely got frozen out, Acho is scolding the wrong guy. The protection is the story and the receiver is the headline.

Houston is winless and the questions about DeMeco Ryans' future have already started. I'd push back on that. A head coach whose defensive line is living in the opponent's backfield is not the guy losing these games. Anderson is winning reps. Someone on the other side of the ball has to turn those reps into points, and until that happens, firing Ryans would be solving the wrong problem.

Travis Hunter gave us the day's best clip with a juke that dropped Tee Higgins on an interception that a penalty erased. The play doesn't count. The rep does. Jacksonville is asking him to play both ways, and open-field agility like that is the reason the experiment is worth the risk. Nullified or not, that's a cornerback doing something most receivers can't.

On the fantasy side, the Week 4 recap put Lamb and Kyren Williams in the winners column while D'Andre Swift and Trevor Lawrence landed among the losers. I'll take the Williams side of that ledger going forward and I'd be trying to move off Swift in any league where someone still believes in the volume. Lawrence's bad day is the one that should bother people, because the position doesn't forgive many of them.

My verdict: the Cowboys' win and the Texans' loss are the same story told from two ends, and it's a pass-protection story. Prescott took 12 hits and won. That's not toughness, that's a countdown. If Dallas doesn't fix the interior, none of the rest of this matters.
