Justin Jefferson's left ankle sent him to the locker room in the first quarter, and Minnesota ruled him out for the rest of Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Head coach Kevin O'Connell told FOX after the opening quarter he was "trying to get Justin back in there." He never got back in. Jefferson caught both of his targets for 32 yards before the injury, watched a couple of series from the sideline, then walked to the locker room. The Vikings won without him and he'll be reevaluated.

That last part is the whole story for fantasy. Jefferson's 2 catches on 2 targets is a full game's work for most receivers and a half-quarter's work for him. His absence created the target vacuum everyone expected, and one player swallowed it.

Jordan Addison: 9 targets, 5 receptions, 90 yards, a 41-yard long, and the touchdown. Nobody else on the roster drew more than six targets. If Jefferson misses time, Addison isn't a flex anymore. He's a top-24 receiver in PPR and a weekly tournament play in DFS, and his salary will jump the moment the injury report lands.

The rest of the tree stayed flat. T.J. Hockenson saw 4 targets and turned them into 11 yards. Tai Felton ran two routes into the target column and caught neither. Jauan Jennings got 2 targets and managed 1 yard. Aaron Jones handled 17 carries for 58 yards and added 5 catches on 6 targets out of the backfield. The passing game itself was ugly: 15-of-29 for 168 yards, one touchdown, one interception, a 25.4 QBR.

That box score matters for how you treat this. A quarterback completing barely half his throws with a 5.8-yard average isn't a rising tide for three pass catchers. He's a tide for one.

My verdict: Stash Addison everywhere you can and treat him as a starting receiver if Jefferson sits. Do not chase Hockenson off this game; four targets and 11 yards is the same role he's had. And if Jefferson's ankle costs him multiple weeks, the Vikings' offense becomes a low-volume, run-first operation that caps everyone's ceiling except Addison's. Grab him before the waiver claim does.
