ESPN's Week 1 IDP preview has a clear directive: target the Las Vegas Raiders. That is a whole-defense endorsement, not a single-player mention. And it should push you off the fence.

Most IDP managers will chase the usual suspects from the league's top defenses. The Raiders don't fit that bill, and that's exactly why they're a target. The designation means the unit is undervalued relative to the opportunity. In tackle-heavy leagues, that points to their front seven. In big-play formats, their secondary picks up the slack. The team-wide signal means you don't need a specific name to act.

Here's the call: if you have a Raider defender on your bench, put him in your starting lineup for Week 1. If your waiver wire still has a Raider available at a position of need, make the pickup before anyone else does. This is a one-week move, and it's justifiable by the tag alone. Who is the one Raider to prioritize? The one you can still get. The ESPN nod is your confirmation that this defense has multiple IDP-worthy contributors.

The contrarian read? Everyone waits for a guaranteed stat line. Week 1 is too early for guarantees. You ride the signal before the breakout, not after it. When a whole defense gets flagged as a target, you don't question it.

What would flip my stance? If the Raiders' opponent runs the ball 35-plus times, tackle volume everywhere takes a hit. Or if a key starter sits unexpectedly. Neither is true right now, based on what we know.

My verdict: the Raiders are a top-five IDP defense for Week 1. Make the add. Be early, not late. That's the move.
