Coen: I think that the guys came out and tried to do what we asked them to do in terms of starting fast, played some complimentary football, which I also was harping on, taking advantage of, obviously, the opportunities that we had with some of the turnovers. Was it perfect? No, by any means, but a lot to clean up and coach off of, some technique and a couple of things that we need to continue to work on and coach on. But I was pleased with their energy, the way that they executed some situations and jumped out to a fast start, which is something that we've really been harping on.
Coen: I think Bork played the most of any rookie tight end, I think, in the NFL and played a ton of snaps, did a lot of really good things in the run game. It was good to get kind of Foyer out of there in the fourth quarter and got Branson a ton of reps, that linebacker. So Caleb Ransaw played his first real NFL experience game in a regular season. They did some nice things. So it was definitely good to get a bunch of those guys reps. I think they handled the moment the right way. I don't think it was too big for them.
Coen: Yeah, I thought he did some really good things in pass pro specifically. Like when he was one-on-one in pass protection, he did a phenomenal job of sitting down, anchoring in pass pro. He moved some people at the point of attack, had a couple of things at the second level and a few pulls that got a little bit jacked up. But I thought he played really well for his first career start.
Coen: Yeah, I think it can continue to be a weapon for us, to be able to be balanced in some of those settings and do a little bit more out of those groups to continue to help out, especially when you get injuries. And as you know, things down the line will come. The more experience and opportunities that we can get those guys reps only helps us out.
Coen: Yeah, I think it's probably a as we go thing. I think it's great to get Nate going, and especially taking some of those hard downs away from Strange in some ways and being able to be at the point of attack not every single time.
Coen: It's the evolution and development of Caleb and getting that next third safety on the grass, because we know moving Antonio around is a good thing for our defense and being able to play some different structures out of those groupings. It's something that we've been working on that we want to continue to develop, and you're always trying to get the fastest 11 on the grass.
Coen: Yeah, it does. I mean, we obviously have a lot of work to get done from now until the game is actually played tonight, so the coaches are extremely busy looking at, obviously, Denver post when we played them and sort of how they looked. We can look at the preseason a little bit, because obviously they have a new coordinator calling plays and what his flow looked like and some of the rhythm and ways that he called the game.
Coen: Yeah, he played well on defense, for sure. I thought he was active, played physical with his hands. He's done a phenomenal job, I think, even dating back to last year when he got in there, of ball disruption. He had another punch out yesterday.
Coen: Yeah, it is impressive to be off schedule and play creatively when it is very challenging in the preseason in training camp because you just don't get so many reps at that. The whistle blows quicker in training camp, as you know, and he's sitting there in a red jersey every day. And so it was great to see him be able to play off schedule, extend plays.
Coen: Yeah, I mean, you know, I think sometimes when you're playing fast, things are going fast, you're on the run, something I've talked to him about and trying to work through is like you are fast as it is. Like you can run, you cover ground as being as large as you are so that when you get on the move, whether it's on a bootleg, on a play action boot or you're scrambling, you don't need to be necessarily sprinting.
Coen: Yeah, and that was a dot. I mean, that was an absolute dot through four defenders to trust Josh in that moment. He had Josh and Jacobi were kind of the either or there. We scored on that exact play in the joint practice against Carolina and he threw it to Jacobi.
Coen: I wanted to get Cam in there, you know? It's not like, you know, you want to get everybody involved in the game, right? And so at that point, I felt like points were necessary. You want to just continue to score points and, you know, what I'd love to, pardon me, wanted to go for it, absolutely.
Coen: Yeah, I think Toon ran his tail off, man. He ran hard. I think maybe, you know, the first run of the day, the first play of the day, I think we maybe had a chance to keep that thing inside, but there was a little color that he did see that allowed him to bounce it.
Coen: Yeah, I thought our tight ends blocked their asses off. Quentin Morris did some really good things at the point of attack. I mentioned Bork. Strange was involved in there as well, and I think the receivers did a really nice job out in the perimeter doing their job.
Coen: Yeah, he did good. He did well. He was confident, held his own, did, you know, got the work that we wanted him to get, knowing that he hasn't played a ton.
Coen: Yeah, good. Yeah, it's probably going to be a little bit. We'll figure it out, but fully expect, you know, Brian Thomas Jr. to be active this week probably.
