A game-time-decision tag — with a pregame workout attached — almost never ends in a featured workload. Fantasy managers who drafted Hunter as a Week 1 starter should reassign the Jacksonville target tree now, before the market forces the issue.
The “work him out” plan is about the joint, not the talent.
Coen: “He’ll be a game time decision… working him out before the game.”
What it means: if practice had answered the availability question, Coen wouldn’t need a Sunday workout to adjudicate it. The coordinator said the Jags will use “every op we can” to get Hunter ready — the language of a player whose body hasn’t yet held up through a full week of contact, not a veteran being given a maintenance day. He also said the decision runs “all the way up till game time.” That’s a genuine coin flip, and it wrecks any fantasy lineup that has to lock in Hunter before the pregame workout.
The concrete impact: even if Hunter is active, his route tree starts limited. He becomes a boom-bust flex, not the WR2/3 his draft stock implies. And with the Jaguars sitting around a touchdown favorite (-7/-7.5, DraftKings), the betting market is still pricing the full-strength version of an offense that may not exist Sunday.
“Feeling confident” is ramp-up language — and ramp-ups are not features.
Coen: “Get them some reps, get them feeling confident in a game-like setting.”
That is not the quote of a coordinator planning to feed his star. Players who are fully cleared don’t need to “feel confident” in their own joint during a game.
