Giants Acquire C.J. Okoye from Ravens in Pre-Cutdown Trade
The New York Giants acquired defensive lineman C.J. Okoye from the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 29, 2026, the day before NFL rosters were due to be trimmed to 53 players. ESPN reported the Giants sent a 2028 seventh-round pick to Baltimore in exchange for Okoye, a defensive tackle.
The deal came together quickly and quietly, the way most trades do at this point on the calendar. Teams are making final evaluations, and the Ravens apparently decided Okoye was expendable. Rather than release him and risk losing him on waivers, they got a future pick out of it. That's a clean piece of business.
For the Giants, the acquisition is a low-risk bet on a player who fits a position of need. The cost, a seventh-rounder two drafts away, is meaningless if Okoye contributes even one solid snap.
