The Philadelphia Eagles’ coaching staff is undergoing a significant reshuffle this January, with a major promotion on defense and a high-stakes search underway on the offensive side of the ball.
On defense, the Eagles moved swiftly to address a critical loss. After star defensive backs coach Christian Parker left to join the staff of the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys, Head Coach Nick Sirianni promoted from within. Joe Kasper, who served as the team’s safeties coach in 2025, has been elevated to Defensive Backs Coach and Defensive Passing Game Coordinator. Kasper, a well-regarded young mind in the building, is now tasked with overseeing the entire secondary and designing pass defense schemes. This promotion signals the organization’s confidence in his ability to maintain and build upon the defensive backfield’s development, a unit that will be under scrutiny this offseason.
The search for a new offensive coordinator, however, has proven more complex. The team parted ways with OC Kevin Patullo on January 13th, initiating a wide-ranging interview process. As of January 26th, the search remains active but has hit some snags. Promising candidates like Miami Dolphins assistant Frank Smith (44) have interviewed for the position. However, reports indicate that at least two other young, offensive-minded coaches have withdrawn their names from consideration, thinning the pool of potential hires.
This coordinator hire is arguably the most important decision of the Eagles’ offseason. The individual chosen will be responsible for revitalizing an offense that, while statistically strong, showed inconsistencies in 2025 and sputtered at critical moments in the season-ending losses to Washington and San Francisco. They will be tasked with designing schemes that maximize the talents of franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts (entering his 7th season in 2026) and navigating the potential contract situations of stars like A.J. Brown. The Eagles’ front office, led by General Manager Howie Roseman, is under pressure to make a hire that can return the offense to its championship form.
