The realistic vacancy is two to three catches, and Hafley signaled no intention of filling it with one body.

Hafley, on how the offense changes: "there'll be some tweaks in there with different guys having different roles" — plus "some guys now having a chance to step up and play." Two chances to name a beneficiary. No name. Consider the alternatives: Jalen Tolbert (18-203-1 across 13 games for Dallas in 2025), Jalen Reagor in year seven, Kevin Coleman Jr. with zero receptions in 2026, Will Sheppard, and rookie Chris Bell (1-25). When a staff won't elevate a single wideout out of that group, it's telling you it can't. Expect a WR3/4 snap committee, which dilutes any fantasy claim on Bell, Tolbert, or Reagor. Malik Washington is the floor. De'Von Achane is the upside nobody is pricing. Washington has 7 catches for 96 yards and cleared three receptions in both games (3-53, then 4-43) — the only Miami wideout besides Douglas with a repeatable weekly line. Achane also has 7 receptions. Identical reception count to the man vacating the role, plus 110 rushing yards. In an offense averaging 208.5 pass yards per game on 417 yards and one passing touchdown from Malik Willis through two weeks, the tight end and slot are the paths of least resistance — and Achane is already running the highest-percentage one. The market will chase the WR carousel; the data says the receptions are consolidating toward the two players who already have them.
Ryan Miller is the offset — and a one-catch sample. Hafley: "Ryan will practice today," and "we feel good about him playing on Sunday." That's a practice-report hedge, not a snap guarantee, and the same answer described the issue as something "lingering" that needed rest to "calm down." Miller's 77-yard touchdown is also 76% of his season yardage on a single play, with one reception in two games. He is not a volume replacement for Douglas. He's a field-stretcher who just happened to catch the one that hit.

That's the market's verdict on this offense, and it caps what any Douglas replacement can be. Watch the first-quarter wide receiver snap distribution Sunday. If Washington is the only wideout above a 60% snap share, the Douglas vacancy is a one-man job, and the rest of that room is a depth-chart rumor.
