Todd Bowles, Head Coach of the Buccaneers, addressed the media during a press conference on September 16, 2026, following the team's recent performance. The session focused on player injuries, game strategy, and the team's efforts to improve after their last outing.

Bowles: No Jacob Parrish out there. He had that injury against the bank. Oh, just what's his total stats? He's limited right now. He did some things. Hopefully as the week goes on he can do a little more. He was full practice. First practice back.
Reporter: Did you see kind of the urgency that the energy you want coming off a game like Sunday?
Bowles: Yeah, we have the urgency we had it last week. We have it this week. It's just about correcting the mistakes and moving on from there.
Reporter: How much did you think thought the first half scoreboard affected Robinson's plate calling curtailing the balance that you guys normally want to have?
Bowles: I don't think it affected it. But you know anytime you get down like that and we had time to get back in the game. And we're trying to run it a little bit more. But as the time goes you kind of got to start moving along with it. So, you know, we've kind of went to plan B.
Reporter: Operation was smooth or there seemed to be like a lot of snaps that were coming it you know where they're breaking the huddle at 10 seconds or less when I was part of a communication thing trying to get everything in. That takes a little bit more time trying to run on the field and run back off and get in the huddle and get out. I mean it happens as there's nothing you can do about it. You know, you got to have hand signals you got to have wristbands you got to have playing B and C the games not gonna stop off of that and we're not using that as an excuse. This also happened with Robinson when he was in Atlanta as well. It's happened to everybody that's coast in this league.
Bowles: Yeah, I find was see Morrison play like that. It was great because he was healthy and it's great to see him play and not think about it. And that's the guy we saw coming out of college and he did some really good things on Sunday.
Reporter: Mention rosebombs a guy who would kind of be a core player leader on special teams I know he was dealing with the foot injury. He dressed but didn't play Sunday. Was there any kind of setback or is it just being careful?
Bowles: Just being careful with him. He'll play more this week. No, he's just stopped thinking and they got a couple chips got in his way and he got a little frustrated, but he'll be fine. He understands what he has to do.
Reporter: It doesn't relate to the NFL. Across the league the scoring obviously was about as high as it's been week one ever. I just want to see if there's any anything you'd point to for why offenses might be predisposed to perform better in a week one given where the league is preseason everything right now.
Bowles: I could not tell you right now. I will see what the trend is in the coming weeks. I'll probably have a better answer for you.
Reporter: Guys weren't in the right spots. We talked about that a little bit, but did you just chalk that up to it being a week one thing or what kind of things are you able to do to address that?
Bowles: It's part of the game is football. You're not gonna be in the right spot when we play hard you cover some of them things up. We got to minimize those mistakes, and that's what we're practicing.
Reporter: I know you're tired of me bringing this up every week, but how much is tackling on your mind getting that straightened out?
Bowles: You know we've talked about that for a while. Tackling's always on our mind you know and everybody missed a few tackles here and there you hopefully that comes down weeks two and three and everybody calms down, and we get better at it.
Reporter: In the past you've had the inclination to kind of flip-flop. Yeah, yeah from you know either side, but with bane now playing almost exclusively at that left side of the line is that just because he's a rookie and you want to get himself in at one spot, or did you just feel like that was the matchup? You wanted him in that spot?
Bowles: It's the first game of the season. We got time to grow and do things as we're not gonna show everything in week one. We're just trying to play fast and not make them major mistakes and as the season goes we'll expand everybody's packages and kind of do a little bit of different things as we go.
Reporter: What about how did you feel about your pass rush and was some of the success that they were having on offense was it because of burrow was just getting the ball out so fast?
Bowles: Well, he got the ball out again. Yeah, I addressed all these things on Sunday and Monday and we have moved on to Cleveland. So I'm kind of over Cincinnati personally.
Reporter: Well, let me ask you then what kind of challenge does the offense that Cleveland has and it looks like to Shawn is gonna be the starter for the game. What are the what kind of challenge today post?
Bowles: It's a big challenge because they do a lot of different things as far as running and throwing the ball. I mean when you have a running quarterback that gives you that extra added dimension you can rush exactly the proper way and still get out run because of his speed and his athleticism. So we got to be very disciplined in our past rush lanes. And you know, we got to stop the run and they got a bunch of weapons over there.
Reporter: Your thoughts on fanon who is pretty prolific coming out of bowling green as a tight end and what he's been able to do in the league so far?
Bowles: Oh, yeah, the heck of a year last year. I only had one game so far this year, but we know he's gonna get his catches and he's a dangerous guy. And it gives us a scrambling guy to have around if not, we put a wide out back there. We kind of had Garrett Green do it last year. But you know, there's no preparation for the kind of quarterback Watson is. Jalen can scramble and do some things but you can't really simulate a game, but he does give us some movement and athletic ability.
Reporter: You and Todd Monkin just missed each other here, but I was curious if you had any interaction with him at Georgia or just how will you know him?
Bowles: I know I'm from Georgia. We actually talk. I actually interviewed him one time as an OC I think before he went to Baltimore. So we know each other pretty good from a personal standpoint from Georgia and this is a business standpoint, but he's a very intelligent guy.
Reporter: Kick off the season just your thoughts on how he's turned the page and focusing on this week.
Bowles: Oh, he's determined to get better. Obviously everybody is it wasn't just him. Everybody made a lot of mistakes and he turned the corner and he'll be better this week mentally.
Reporter: Elaborate on that and just what you want to see him do from week one to week two.
Bowles: Really just play fast and not feel like he has to make every play just settle down and play within the defense which he started out doing and he'll give back to that and he's he'll be fine.
Reporter: You're gonna make an effort to get Walker some defensive snaps?
Bowles: That's a long season. Like I said, we got time to put things in and people are gonna play all over the place. But because they didn't play in the first game doesn't mean they're gonna not gonna play.
