Engram: Yeah, no, well deserved. I thought Dallin had an amazing camp. I think I said it in the press conference earlier. As a rookie tight end in this offense, it's a lot to learn. It's a lot to pick up. It's a lot to play fast with and thought he did a great job. I told him that it's well deserved. And obviously, the real work starts now. So obviously, I just wanted to be any type of help I can be for him. Obviously, I've experienced a lot. And I enjoy passing down those experiences and kind of give him the lessons before he might have to go through them, so.
Reporter: Evan, when it comes to people raking Bow and that sort of thing and they always kind of have them in the middle, what do you think they're missing?
Engram: I mean, I don't pay any energy to that. I know Bow doesn't, we know what we got. He's proven it. I think you guys have seen it. We all have eyes, so I think we don't really, he doesn't and we don't really pay any amount to that kind of stuff.
Reporter: I mean, you've been in the league a long time. How unique is it that just last year, this year, your roster retention is so high?
Engram: Say one more time.
Reporter: The locker room basically is going to be obviously the back end guys.
Engram: Yeah. 80 something percent last year, 90 something percent. I mean, it's just credit to just the guys we have. No credit to the job Sean in the front office has done building this team. I saw it first hand when I got here last year. Just the character of the guys in the room. The sacrifice the team makes to reach our goals. It's a special group of guys and yeah, it's not surprising me that we have that this year.
Reporter: Evan, with Davis Webb as a play caller, how do you feel like that would help you maybe find success in this office?
Engram: Yeah, I think I've said this before too. I think all of our skill guys are going to benefit in the offense this year. Just the way we want to attack, the ways we're getting guys in space. It's we want to be an offense where it's pick your poison kind of offense. Where we have guys everywhere that can attack and have success. And we're all hungry too and we all want the football. We all want to impact games and we just have a lot of talent. So I think Webb has done a great job this camp and I know he's chomping at the bit. So for us to start game planning for KC and get ready for the season.
Reporter: Having a follow up to that kind of the three main tight ends last season are back. I think you guys had a combined like 80 catches between you. Do you think Davis Webb's offense and all that there's going to be more balls caught by tight ends this year?
Engram: Yeah, I think we're going to work for that for sure. We're going to work for that. We have to cash in our opportunities. We have to be ready where our number is called. And yeah, we have the talent in the room for everybody to make plays in the past game. We have great talent in the rain game. We're just really smart room. And yeah, we're hungry to make more plays on the field for sure.
Reporter: I don't know if we're going to think one season is the jail employee in the preseason. But going against your own defense during camp, can you feel this impact just in terms of attention to your demands?
Engram: Yeah, I mean, it's a no brainer, honestly. Just his impact that he has, just the speed that he has. He's really smart. He's really savvy, too. Yeah, I think it's just going to help our offense out a lot. You have to account for him every time he's on the field. Yeah, honestly, sometimes that doesn't even matter with his talent. So yeah, we're excited to have him. He's had a great camp. He's meshed really well. He's a great locker room guy. He's funny. Yeah, he fits really well with the DNA of our team. And he's going to be a big part of our offense.
Reporter: With so much personnel continuity, how important is that?
Engram: Sorry, sorry again, I'm sorry.
Reporter: With so much personnel continuity, how important is it that when you bring someone meeting like that, that they have that personality fit, that culture fit, that they get what you guys have built?
Engram: Yeah, I mean, culture is a big part of success in this league. The camaraderie we have as a team, the way we love each other, the way we push each other, the way we hold each other accountable. Like, this is a big part of being successful. You have to have high character guys. You have to have high accountability. You have to have that relationship to hold each other accountable as well. And like I said, he's meshed in really well with the guys. That right receiver room with court and him kind of as the vets and the young guys coming up under them. Yeah, I think it's just a great character locker room. It's just an easy mesh. And yeah, it's important. I think we're really lucky to have a lot of guys like that that contribute to that cause.
Reporter: There's no easy end of the season. You start with the divisional opponent on the tonight football. Do you like that?
Engram: Yeah, no, we love it. That's kind of our mentality is just tell us when and where and we'll be ready to go.
Reporter: Last one. You've seen this game. Is there one player that you've seen from last season and that development in the offseason? And now it's really taken you?
Engram: Yeah, there's dogs all over the offense. I mean, defense for sure. We've had our days in camp. You guys have seen it. That's going back and forth. But I think the guy I've been super impressed with and I've told him is Keith Robinson. He's been a foresaw camp. There's been a couple of times I've been in pass pro and he's lined up across and I've had to bring it. I've had to lock in and he's definitely growing as a player. He has a bright future ahead of him for sure.
