Kansas City ruled out left tackle Josh Simmons for Monday night against Denver, and the Chiefs are expected to start undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson in his place. The final injury reports from both teams are out, but that one line is the whole game. Benson wasn't drafted, he plays the second-most important position on the field, and he gets a Monday night against a Denver front that has every reason to test him early. Start your Chiefs pass-catchers anyway if you already own them. In DFS, Denver's defensive front is the sharp side. I'll take the under on Mahomes' clean-pocket rate.
Atlanta's quarterback situation is genuinely alarming. Cooper Rush had back spasms on Saturday and the Falcons confirmed he still starts Sunday against Pittsburgh. He's the third Atlanta quarterback dealing with an injury before the opener, joining Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix Jr. Three quarterbacks hurt before Week 1 isn't bad luck, it's a roster built on a bad assumption. Rush gutting it out against the Steelers' pass rush is admirable and probably unwise, and if the spasms tighten up mid-game Atlanta has no good answer. Every Falcons skill player is a downgrade in season-long formats until this settles.
Jaylen Watson's Rams debut went badly. He allowed two touchdown passes, more than he surrendered across his entire previous two seasons in Kansas City combined, according to Yahoo. One game isn't a career verdict, and cornerback is the position most punished by small samples. But Los Angeles acquired him to hold up on the boundary, and a team that just watched him get beaten twice has to think about safety help. Until Watson proves otherwise, I'm starting whoever lines up across from him in DFS.
Lamar Jackson won't have a long-term extension with Baltimore before the 2026 season begins, and per ESPN's league sources he's been reluctant to even discuss one, more focused on the year ahead. There's no fantasy angle here and I won't manufacture one. This is leverage: Jackson betting on his own health and the quarterback market, Baltimore betting it can win now without guaranteeing the future. The Ravens' cap planning and their next three drafts hang on how this resolves. My call is that he plays the season out and the price only goes up.
